Our dedicated coordinators will inform suitable tutors about the assignment. Rest assured that no personal details will be disclosed at this stage. Tutors who are interested will apply, and we will shortlist candidates based on your budget, preferences, learning style, and any other requirements.

We aim to get back to you within 72 hours with a selection of the most suitable tutors. You can speak with the tutor, ask questions, and choose to confirm or decline. If the tutor is not the right fit, we will provide a fresh list of recommendations based on your feedback.

Once you have confirmed a tutor, we will help liaise the arrangements for the first lesson.

There are three main types of tutors:

• Part-time tutors — typically university students or recent graduates. They tend to be flexible, friendly, and relatable to students, and are the most affordable option.
• Full-time tutors — tutoring is their primary profession. Many are highly experienced, able to provide supplementary notes, and offer a wide range of available timings.
• Current / ex-MOE teachers — the most sought-after group. They have deep knowledge of the MOE syllabus and exam formats. Availability may be limited due to high demand.

We will recommend the most suitable type based on your child’s needs and your stated budget.

We take credibility and integrity very seriously. All tutors who register with us go through a background check and qualification verification. Any falsification of credentials or suspicious applications will result in an immediate removal from our database.

For additional peace of mind, you may request the tutor to bring proof of their qualifications to the first lesson.

We publish average market rates as a reference guide for tutors when setting their hourly fees. However, each tutor is free to set their own rate based on their experience and qualifications, so rates will vary.

During our matching process, we factor in your stated budget and will only recommend tutors whose rates are within a reasonable range of what you have indicated. We can also negotiate on your behalf where needed.

Not at all. Our matching service is completely free for parents and students. We generate revenue by collecting a small commission from the tutor — equivalent to the first two weeks of lessons — in exchange for helping them find students. This model keeps costs low for families.

Payment for the first two weeks of lessons is made directly to Study Tutors SG via PayNow, bank transfer, or cheque. No payment goes to the tutor during this initial period. From the third week onwards, all payments are made directly to the tutor in whichever mode you both agree on.

Our coordinators will provide full payment details once you have confirmed your tutor.

No. All payments to Study Tutors SG are made after lessons have been conducted. We advise parents to pay only after each lesson or at the end of each month, and not in advance.

One of the key advantages of home tuition is that all lessons are conducted one-to-one. The pace and content can be adjusted entirely to suit your child’s needs. Each tutor has their own teaching style and personality, so there is no single fixed approach.

Parents who wish to be more involved are welcome to suggest how lessons should be run, or which topics to focus on.

Lessons are usually held at the student’s home to save on travelling time. If you prefer a public venue such as a library or café, this can be arranged. Online lessons are also available if both parties agree. The lesson location should be confirmed before the first session.
